holding to a form of a1godliness, although they have 2denied its power ; 3Avoid such men as these.

For among them are those who b4enter into households and captivate c5weak women weighed down with sins, led on by 6various impulses,

always learning and never able to 7come to the dknowledge of the truth.

Just as 8Jannes and Jambres 9opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, 10men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith.

But they will not make further progress ; for their 11folly will be obvious to all, just 12as eJannes's and Jambres's folly was also.

Now you 13followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, 14love, fperseverance,

15persecutions, and 16sufferings, such as happened to me at 17Antioch, at 18Iconium and at 19Lystra ; what 20persecutions I endured, and out of them all 21the Lord rescued me!

Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus 22will be persecuted.

But evil men and impostors 23will proceed from bad to worse, 24deceiving and being deceived.
14
You, however, 25continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them,
15
and that 26from childhood you have known 27the sacred writings which are able to 28give you the wisdom that leads to 29salvation through faith which is in 30Christ Jesus.
