"2I was in the city of Joppapraying; and in a trance I saw3a vision, an objectcomingdownlike a greatsheetlowered by fourcorners from the sky; and it cameright down to me,

and when I had fixed my gaze on it and was observing it I saw the four-footedanimals of the earth and the wildbeasts and the crawlingcreatures and the birds of the air.

"I alsoheard a voicesaying to me, 'Get up, Peter; kill and eat.'

"But I said, 'By nomeans, Lord, for nothingunholyorunclean has everentered my mouth.'

"But a voice from heavenanswered a secondtime, '4WhatGod has cleansed, no longer considerunholy.'

"Thishappenedthreetimes, and everything was drawnback up into the sky.

"And behold, at that momentthreemenappeared at the house in which we were staying, having been sent to me from 5Caesarea.

"6The Spirittold me to go with them 7withoutmisgivings. 8Thesesixbrethrenalsowent with me and we entered the man'shouse.

"And he reported to us how he had seen the angelstanding in his house, and saying, 'Send to Joppa and have Simon, who is also calledPeter, broughthere;

and he will speak9words to you by which you will be saved, you and 10all your household.'
