And he called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he felldownbefore1Paul and Silas,

and after he brought them out, he said, "Sirs, 2whatmust I do to be saved?"
The Jailer Converted
31 They said, "3Believe in the LordJesus, and you will be saved, you and 4your household."

And they spoke the word of the Lord to him together with allwho were in his house.

And he took them 5that very hour of the night and washed their wounds, and immediately he was baptized, he and all his household.

And he brought them into his house and setfoodbefore them, and rejoicedgreatly, having believed in God with 6his wholehousehold.

Now when daycame, the chiefmagistratessent their policemen, saying, "Releasethosemen."
36
And 7the jailerreportedthesewords to Paul, saying, "The chiefmagistrates have sent to release you. Thereforecome out now and go8in peace."

But Paulsaid to them, "They have beaten us in publicwithouttrial, 9men who are Romans, and have thrown us into prison; and now are they sending us awaysecretly? Noindeed! But let them comethemselves and bring us out."

The policemenreportedthesewords to the chiefmagistrates. 10They were afraid when they heard that they were Romans,

and they came and appealed to them, and when they had brought them out, they kept begging them 11to leave the city.
