And he brought them into his house and setfoodbefore them, and rejoicedgreatly, having believed in God with 1his wholehousehold.

Now when daycame, the chiefmagistratessent their policemen, saying, "Releasethosemen."

And 2the jailerreportedthesewords to Paul, saying, "The chiefmagistrates have sent to release you. Thereforecome out now and go3in peace."

But Paulsaid to them, "They have beaten us in publicwithouttrial, 4men who are Romans, and have thrown us into prison; and now are they sending us awaysecretly? Noindeed! But let them comethemselves and bring us out."

The policemenreportedthesewords to the chiefmagistrates. 5They were afraid when they heard that they were Romans,

and they came and appealed to them, and when they had brought them out, they kept begging them 6to leave the city.

They went out of the prison and entered the house of 7Lydia, and when they saw8the brethren, they encouraged them and departed.
