1And some of them were persuaded and joined2Paul and Silas, along with a largenumber of the 3God-fearing4Greeks and a number* of the 5leadingwomen.

But 6the Jews, becomingjealous and takingalongsomewickedmen from the marketplace, formed a mob and set the city in an uproar; and attacking the house of 7Jason, they were seeking to bring them out to the people.

When they did not find them, they began 8draggingJason and somebrethrenbefore the cityauthorities, shouting, "Thesemen who have upset9the world have comeherealso;

and Jason10has welcomed them, and they allact11contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is anotherking, Jesus."

They stirred up the crowd and the cityauthorities who heardthesethings.

And when they had received a pledge from 12Jason and the others, they released them.
Paul at Berea
1013The brethrenimmediatelysent14Paul and Silasaway by night to 15Berea, and when they arrived, they went into 16the synagogue of the Jews.

Nowthese were morenoble-minded than those in 17Thessalonica, for they received the word with greateagerness, examining the Scripturesdaily* to see whetherthesethings were so.

Therefore18many of them believed, along with a number* of 19prominentGreek20women and men.

But when the Jews of 21Thessalonicafound out that the word of God had been proclaimed by Paul in 22Bereaalso, they camethere as well, agitating and stirring up the crowds.

Thenimmediately23the brethrensentPaul out to go as far as the sea; and 24Silas and 25Timothyremainedthere.
