1 1Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 2HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER (which is the first commandment with a promise ), 3 SO THAT IT MAY BE WELL WITH YOU, AND THAT YOU MAY LIVE LONG ON THE EARTH. 4 3Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but 4bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. 5 5Slaves, be obedient to those who are your amasters according to the flesh, with 6fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, 7as to Christ ; 6 8not bby way of eyeservice, as 9men-pleasers, but as 10slaves of Christ, 11doing the will of God from the cheart. 7 With good will drender service, 12as to the Lord, and not to men, 8 13knowing that 14whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, 15whether slave or free. 9 And masters, do the same things to them, and 16give up threatening, knowing that 17both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is 18no partiality with Him.The Armor of God
10 Finally, 19be strong in the Lord and in 20the strength of His might. 11 21Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the 22schemes of the devil. 12 For our 23struggle is not against e24flesh and blood, but 25against the rulers, against the powers, against the 26world forces of this 27darkness, against the 28spiritual forces of wickedness in 29the heavenly places. 13 Therefore , take up 30the full armor of God, so that you will be able to 31resist in 32the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand firm therefore, 33HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING 34PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, 15 and having 35shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE ; 16 fin addition to all, taking up the 36shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the 37flaming arrows of 38the evil one. 17 And take 39THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the 40sword of the Spirit, which is 41the word of God. 18 gWith all 42prayer and petition h43pray at all times 44in the Spirit, and with this in view, i45be on the alert with all 46perseverance and 47petition for all the saints, 19 and 48pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me 49in the opening of my mouth, to make known with 50boldness 51the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an 52ambassador 53in jchains ; that kin proclaiming it I may speak 54boldly, 55as I ought to speak. 21 56But that you also may know about my circumstances , lhow I am doing, 57Tychicus, 58the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make everything known to you. 22 m59I have sent him to you for this very purpose, so that you may know nabout us, and that he may 60comfort your hearts. 23 61Peace be to the brethren, and 62love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ owith incorruptible love.New American Standard Bible Copyright © 1960, 1962, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1995 by The Lockman Foundation, La Habra, California.
