221Wives, 2be subject to your ownhusbands, 3as to the Lord.
23
For 4the husband is the head of the wife, as Christalso is the 5head of the church, He Himself6being the Savior of the body.
24
But as the church is subject to Christ, soalso the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.
257Husbands, love your wives, just as Christalsoloved the church and 8gaveHimself up for her,
269so that He might sanctify her, having 10cleansed her by the 11washing of water with 12the word,
27
that He might 13present to Himself the churchain all her glory, havingnospotorwrinkleoranysuchthing ; but that she would be 14holy and blameless.
28Sohusbandsoughtalso to 15love their ownwives as their ownbodies. He who loves his ownwifeloveshimself ;
29
for nooneeverhated his ownflesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christalso does the church,
30because we are 16members of His 17body.
3118FOR THISREASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOMEONEFLESH.
32Thismystery is great ; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.
33Nevertheless, eachindividual among you also is to 19love his ownwife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she b20respects her husband.
