Ephesians 4:9-19 (New American Standard)

View In My Bible
9 (Now this expression, "He 1ascended," what adoes it mean except that He also bhad descended into 2the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is Himself also He who ascended 3far above all the heavens, so that He might 4fill all things.) 11 And He 5gave 6some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as 7evangelists, and some as pastors and 8teachers, 12 9for the equipping of the csaints for the work of service, to the building up of 10the body of Christ; 13 until we all attain to 11the unity of the faith, and of the d12knowledge of the Son of God, to a 13mature man, to the measure of the stature ewhich belongs to the 14fullness of Christ. 14 fAs a result, we are 15no longer to be children, 16tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by 17craftiness gin 18deceitful scheming; 15 but hspeaking the truth 19in love, iwe are to 20grow up in all aspects into Him who is the 21head, even Christ, 16 from whom 22the whole body, being fitted and held together jby what every joint supplies, according to the kproper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself 23in love.

The Christian's Walk

17 24So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, 25that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the 26futility of their mind, 18 being 27darkened in their understanding, l28excluded from the life of God because of the 29ignorance that is in them, because of the 30hardness of their heart; 19 and they, having 31become callous, 32have given themselves over to 33sensuality mfor the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.
