8Mosessaid, "This will happen when the LORDgives you ameat to eat in the evening, and bread to the full in the morning ; for the LORDhears your grumblingswhich you grumbleagainst Him. And what are we? Your grumblings are 1not against us but against the LORD."

Then Mosessaid to Aaron, "Say to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, '2Comenearbefore the LORD, for He has heard your grumblings.' "

It came about as Aaronspoke to the wholecongregation of the sons of Israel, that they blookedtoward the wilderness, and behold, 3the glory of the LORDappeared in the cloud.

And the LORDspoke to Moses, saying,

"4I have heard the grumblings of the sons of Israel ; speak to them, saying, 'cAt twilight you shall eatdmeat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread ; and 5you shall know that I am the LORD your God.' "

So it came about at evening that 6the quailscame up and covered the camp, and in the morning7there was a layer of dewaround the camp.
148When the layer of deweevaporated, behold, on the fsurface of the wilderness9there was a fineflake-likething, fine as the frost on the ground.

When the sons of Israelsaw it, they said to oneanother, "gWhat is it?" For they did not knowwhat it was. And Mosessaid to them, "10It is the breadwhich the LORD has given you to eat.
16"This is hwhat the LORD has commanded, 'Gather of it everymanias much as he should eat ; you shall takej11an omerapiece according to the number of personseach of you has in his tent.' "

The sons of Israeldidso, and some gatheredmuch and some little.

When they measured it with an omer, 12he who had gathered much had noexcess, and he who had gathered little had nolack ; everymangatheredkas much as he should eat.
19Mosessaid to them, "13Let nomanleaveany of it untilmorning."
20
But they did not listen to Moses, and someleft part of it untilmorning, and it bredworms and becamefoul ; and Moses was angry with them.
21
They gathered it morning by morning, everymanlas much as he should eat ; but when the sungrewhot, it would melt.
