Now 1Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses'father-in-law, heard of all that God had done for Moses and for Israel His people, how the LORD had broughtIsrael out of Egypt.
2Jethro, Moses'father-in-law, tookMoses'wife2Zipporah, after he had sent her away,
and her 3twosons, of whomaone was namedGershom, for Moses said, "I have been4a bsojourner in a foreignland."
4cThe other was namedd5Eliezer, for he said, "6The God of my father was my help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh."
Then Jethro, Moses'father-in-law, came with his sons and his wife to Mosesein the wildernesswhere he was camped, at 7the mount of God.
He fsentword to Moses, "I, your father-in-lawJethro, am coming to you with your wife and her twosons with her."
Then Moseswent out to meet his father-in-law, and 8he boweddown and 9kissed him; and they 10askedeachother of their welfare and went into the tent.
8Mosestold his father-in-lawall that the LORD had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians11for Israel'ssake , all the 12hardship that had befallen them on the journey, and how 13the LORD had delivered them.
9Jethrorejoicedoverall14the goodnesswhich the LORD had done to Israel, gin deliveringhthem from the hand of the Egyptians.
So Jethrosaid, "15Blessed be the LORDwhodelivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of Pharaoh, and whodelivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.
11"Now I know that 16the LORD is greaterthanall the gods; iindeed, 17it was provenwhen they dealtproudlyagainstjthe people."
1218Then Jethro, Moses'father-in-law, took a burntoffering and sacrifices for God, and Aaroncame with all the elders of Israel to eatka meal with Moses'father-in-lawbeforeGod.
It came about the nextday that Mosessat to judge the people, and the peoplestoodaboutMoses from the morninguntil the evening.
Now when Moses'father-in-lawsawall that he was doing for the people, he said, "What is thisthing that you are doing for the people? Why do you alonesit as judge and all the peoplestandabout you from morninguntilevening?"
15Mosessaid to his father-in-law, "Because the peoplecome to me 19to inquire of God.
16"When they have a l20dispute, it comes to me, and I judgebetween a man and his neighbor and makeknown the statutes of God and His laws."
