1
Then the LORDsaid to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and speak to him, 'Thussays the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, "1Let My peoplego, that they may serve Me.
2
"For 2if you refuse to let them go and acontinue to hold them,
3behold, 3the hand of the LORDbwill come with a veryseverepestilence on your livestockwhich are in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the herds, and on the flocks.
4
"4But the LORD will make a distinctionbetween the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt, so that 5nothing will die of all that belongs to the sons of Israel.""'
5
The LORDset a definitetime, saying, "Tomorrow the LORD will dothisthing in the land."
6
So the LORDdidthisthing on the nextday, and 6all the livestock of Egyptdied ; 7but of the livestock of the sons of Israel, not onedied.
7Pharaohsent, and behold, there was not evenone of the livestock of Israeldead. But 8the heart of Pharaoh was chardened, and he did not let the peoplego.
8
Then the LORDsaid to Moses and Aaron, "Take for yourselves handfuls of soot from a kiln, and let Mosesthrow it toward the sky in the sight of Pharaoh.
9
"It will become fine dustoverall the land of Egypt, and will become9boilsbreaking out with sores on man and beast through all the land of Egypt."
10
So they tooksoot from a kiln, and stoodbeforePharaoh ; and Mosesthrew it toward the sky, and it becameboilsbreaking out with sores on man and beast.
1110The dmagicianscould not standbeforeMosesbecause of the boils, for the boils were on the magicianseas well as on all the Egyptians.
12
And 11the LORDfhardenedPharaoh'sheart, and he did not listen to them, just as the LORD had spoken to Moses.
13
Then the LORDsaid to Moses, "12Rise up early in the morning and standbeforePharaoh and say to him, 'Thussays the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, "13Let My peoplego, that they may serve Me.
14
"For thistime I will sendall My plaguesgon you and your servants and your people, so that 14you may know that there is noonelike Me in all the earth.
15
"For if by now I had putforth My hand and struck you and your people with pestilence, you would then have been cutoff from the earth.
16
"But, indeed, 15for thisreason I have allowed you to hremain, in order to show you My power and in order to proclaim My name through all the earth.
17"Still you exalt yourself against My peopleiby not letting them go.
18"Behold, about this timetomorrow, 16I will jsend a veryheavyhail, such as has not been seen in Egypt from the day it was foundedkuntilnow.
19"Now therefore send, bring17your livestock and whatever you have in the field to safety. 18Everyman and beast that is found in the field and is not broughthome, when the hailcomesdown on them, will die.""'
2019The one among the servants of Pharaoh who lfeared the word of the LORD made his servants and his livestockflee into the houses ;
21
but he whompaidnoregard to the word of the LORDnleft his servants and his livestock in the field.
22
Now the LORDsaid to Moses, "Stretch out your handtoward the sky, that o20hail may fall on all the land of Egypt, on man and on beast and on everyplant of the field, throughout the land of Egypt."
23Mosesstretched out his stafftoward the sky, and the LORDpsentqthunder and 21hail, and fireran down to the earth. And the LORDrainedhail on the land of Egypt.
24
So there was hail, and firerflashing continually in the midst of the hail, verysevere, such as had not been in all the land of Egyptsince it became a nation.
2522The hailstruckall that was in the field through all the land of Egypt, bothman and beast ; the hail also struckeveryplant of the field and shatteredeverytree of the field.
2623Only in the land of Goshen, where the sons of Israel were, there was nohail.
27
Then Pharaohs24sent for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, "25I have sinnedthistime ; the LORD is the righteousone, and I and my people are the wickedones.
28
"26Makesupplication to the LORD, for there has been enough of God'stthunder and hail ; and 27I will let you go, and you shall staynolonger."
29Mosessaid to him, "As soon as I go out of the city, I will 28spread out my uhands to the LORD ; the vthunder will cease and there will be hailnolonger, that you may know that 29the earth is the LORD'S.
30
"30But as for you and your servants, I know that 31you do not yetwfearxthe LORDGod."
31
(Now the flax and the 32barley were yruined, for the barley was in the ear and the flax was in bud.
32
But the wheat and the spelt were not zruined, for they ripen late.)
3333So Moseswent out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread out his aahands to the LORD ; and the bbthunder and the hailceased, and rainccno longer poured on the earth.
34
But when Pharaohsaw that the rain and the hail and the ddthunder had ceased, he sinnedagain and eehardened his heart, he and his servants.
35Pharaoh'sheart was ffhardened, and he did not let the sons of Israelgo, just as the 34LORD had spokenthroughMoses.
