For prior to the coming of certainmen from b3James, he used to 4eat with the Gentiles ; but when they came, he began to withdraw and holdhimselfaloof, 5fearingcthe party of the circumcision.

The rest of the Jewsjoined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even6Barnabas was carriedaway by their hypocrisy.

But when I saw that they 7were not dstraightforwardabout8the truth of the gospel, I said to 9Cephas in the presence of all, "If you, being a Jew, 10livelike the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to livelikeJews ? e15
"We are 11Jews by nature and not 12sinners from among the Gentiles ;
16neverthelessknowing that 13a man is not justified by the works of fthe Law but throughfaith in ChristJesus, even we have believed in ChristJesus, so that we may be justified by 14faith in Christ and not by the works of gthe Law ; since15by the works of hthe Lawnoiflesh will be justified.

"But if, while seeking to be justified in Christ, we ourselves have also been found16sinners, is Christthen a minister of sin ? 17May it never be!
