God's Promise to Abram
17 Then after his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kingswho were with him, 8the king of Sodomwent out to meet him at the valley of Shaveh (that is, 9the King'sValley ).

He blessed him and said, "Blessed be Abram of GodMostHigh, 13Possessor of heaven and earth;

The king of Sodomsaid to Abram, "Give the people to me and take the goods for yourself."

Abramsaid to the king of Sodom, "I have sworn* to the LORD15GodMostHigh, 16possessor of heaven and earth,

that 17I will not take a thread or a sandalthong or anything that is yours, for fear you would say, 'I have madeAbramrich.'

"I will take nothingexceptwhat the youngmen have eaten, and the share of the menwhowent with me, 18Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their share."
