Genesis 1:1-7

The Creation

1 1In the beginning 2God 3created the heavens and the earth.
2 The earth was [a]4formless and void, and 5darkness was over the [b]surface of the deep, and 6the Spirit of God 7was [c]moving over the [d]surface of the waters.
3 Then 8God said, "Let there be light "; and there was light.
4 God saw that the light was 9good; and God 10separated the light from the darkness.
5 11God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And 12there was evening and there was morning, one day.
6 Then God said, "Let there be [e]an 13expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters."
7 God made the [f]expanse, and separated 14the waters which were below * the [g]expanse from the waters 15which were above * the [h]expanse; and it was so.
