1Therefore1leaving2the aelementaryteaching about the bChrist, let us press on to c3maturity, not layingagain a foundation of repentance from 4deadworks and of faithtowardGod,
2
of 5instruction about washings and 6laying on of hands, and the 7resurrection of the dead and 8eternaljudgment.
3
And this we will do, 9ifGodpermits.
4
For in the case of those who have once been 10enlightened and have tasted of 11the heavenlygift and have beenmade12partakers of the HolySpirit,
5
and 13have tasted the good14word of God and the powers of 15the age to come,
6
and then have fallenaway, it is 16impossible to renew them again to repentance, d17since they againcrucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to openshame.
7
For ground that drinks the rain which oftenefalls on it and bringsforthvegetationuseful to those18for whosesake it is alsotilled, receives a blessing from God ;
8
but if it yieldsthorns and thistles, it is worthless and 19closefto being cursed, and git ends up being burned.
Better Things for You
9
But, 20beloved, we are convinced of betterthingsconcerning you, and things that haccompanysalvation, though we are speaking in thisway.
10
For 21God is not unjust so as to forget22your work and the lovewhich you have showntoward His name, in having 23ministered and in still ministering to the isaints.
11
And we desire that eachone of you show the samediligencejso as to realize the 24fullassurance of 25hopeuntil the end,
12so that you will not be sluggish, but 26imitators of those who through27faith and patience28inherit the promises.
