11
But when Christappeared as a 1highpriest of the 2goodthings to come, He entered through3the greater and moreperfecttabernacle, 4not made with hands, that is to say, 5not of thiscreation;
12
and not through6the blood of goats and calves, but 7through His ownblood, He 8entered the holyplace9once for all, having obtained10eternalredemption.
13
For if11the blood of goats and bulls and 12the ashes of a heifersprinklingthose who have been defiledsanctify for the cleansing of the flesh,
14
howmuchmore will 13the blood of Christ, whothrough14the eternalSpirit15offeredHimselfwithoutblemish to God, 16cleanse your conscience from 17deadworks to serve18the livingGod?
15
For thisreason19He is the 20mediator of a 21newcovenant, so that, since a death has takenplace for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the firstcovenant, those who have been 22called may 23receive the promise of 24the eternalinheritance.
16
For where a covenant is, there must of necessity be the death of the one who made it.
17
For a covenant is valid only when men are dead, for it is never in forcewhile the one who made it lives.
18
Thereforeeven the first covenant was not inauguratedwithoutblood.
19
For when everycommandment had been 25spoken by Moses to all the peopleaccording to the Law, 26he took the 27blood of the calves and the goats, with 28water and scarletwool and hyssop, and sprinkledboth29the bookitself and all the people,
20
saying, "30THIS IS THE BLOOD OF THE COVENANTWHICHGODCOMMANDED YOU."
21
And in the sameway he 31sprinkledboth the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry with the blood.
