3Behind1the secondveil there was a atabernacle which is called the 2Holy of Holies,
4having a goldenb3altar of incense and 4the ark of the covenantcovered on allsides with gold, in which was 5a goldenjarholding the manna, and 6Aaron'srod which budded, and 7the tables of the covenant ;
and above it were the 8cherubim of glory9overshadowing the mercyseat ; but of thesethings we cannotnowspeak in detail.
6Now when thesethings have been soprepared, the priests10are continuallyentering the couterdtabernacleperforming the divineworship,
but into 11the second, only12the highpriest enters 13once a year, 14not without taking blood, which he 15offers for himself and for the e16sins of the people committed in ignorance.
817The HolySpirit is signifyingthis, 18that the way into the holyplace has not yet been disclosed while the foutertabernacle is stillstanding,
9which is a symbol for the presenttime. Accordingly19bothgifts and sacrifices are offered which 20cannotmake the worshiperperfect in conscience,
since they relate only to 21food and 22drink and various23washings, 24regulations for the gbodyimposeduntil25a time of reformation.
But when Christappeared as a 26highpriest of the 27goodthingshto come, He entered through28the greater and moreperfectitabernacle, 29not made with hands, that is to say, 30not of thiscreation ;
and not through31the blood of goats and calves, but 32through His ownblood, He 33entered the holyplace34once for all, jhaving obtained35eternalredemption.
For if36the blood of goats and bulls and 37the ashes of a heifersprinklingthose who have been defiledsanctify for the kcleansing of the flesh,
