3 Behind 1the second veil there was a atabernacle which is called the 2Holy of Holies, 4 having a golden b3altar of incense and 4the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was 5a golden jar holding the manna, and 6Aaron's rod which budded, and 7the tables of the covenant; 5 and above it were the 8cherubim of glory 9overshadowing the mercy seat; but of these things we cannot now speak in detail. 6 Now when these things have been so prepared, the priests 10are continually entering the couter dtabernacle performing the divine worship, 7 but into 11the second, only 12the high priest enters 13once a year, 14not without taking blood, which he 15offers for himself and for the e16sins of the people committed in ignorance. 8 17The Holy Spirit is signifying this, 18that the way into the holy place has not yet been disclosed while the fouter tabernacle is still standing, 9 which is a symbol for the present time. Accordingly 19both gifts and sacrifices are offered which 20cannot make the worshiper perfect in conscience, 10 since they relate only to 21food and 22drink and various 23washings, 24regulations for the gbody imposed until 25a time of reformation. 11 But when Christ appeared as a 26high priest of the 27good things hto come, He entered through 28the greater and more perfect itabernacle, 29not made with hands, that is to say, 30not of this creation; 12 and not through 31the blood of goats and calves, but 32through His own blood, He 33entered the holy place 34once for all, jhaving obtained 35eternal redemption. 13 For if 36the blood of goats and bulls and 37the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the kcleansing of the flesh,
