11At that timeMerodach-baladanson of Baladan, king of Babylon, sentletters and a present to Hezekiah, for he heard that he had beensick and had recovered.
2Hezekiahawas 2pleased , and showed them all his treasurehouse, the 3silver and the gold and the spices and the preciousoil and his wholearmory and all that was found in his treasuries. There was nothing in his house nor in all his dominion that Hezekiah did not show them.

Then Isaiah the 4prophetcame to KingHezekiah and said to him, "What did thesemensay, and from where have they come to you?" And Hezekiahsaid, "They have come to me from a far5country, from Babylon."

He said, "What have they seen in your house ?" So Hezekiahbanswered, "They have seenall that is in my house ; there is nothing among my treasuries that I have not shown them."

Then Isaiahsaid to Hezekiah, "Hear the 6word of the LORD of hosts,
6'Behold, the days are coming when 7all that is in your house and all that your fathers have laid up in store to thisday will be carried to Babylon ; nothing will be left,' says the LORD.

'And some of your sonswho will issue from you, whom you will beget, 8will be taken away, and 9they will becomeofficials in the palace of the king of Babylon.' "
810Then Hezekiahsaid to Isaiah, "The word of the LORDwhich you have spoken is good." For he cthought, "For there will be peace and truth11in my days."
