"I permitted Myself to be sought by 1those who did not ask for Me; I permitted Myself to be found by those who did not seek Me. I said, 'Here am I, here am I,' To a nation which 2did not call on My name.
"3I have spread out My handsallday long to a 4rebelliouspeople, Who walk in the way which is not good, afollowing their own 5thoughts,
A people who continually6provoke Me to My face, Offeringsacrifices in 7gardens and 8burningincense on bricks;
Who sit among graves and spend the night in secretplaces; Who 9eatswine'sflesh, And the broth of uncleanmeat is in their pots.
"Who say, '10Keep to yourself, do not comenear me, For I am holier than you!' These are smoke in My bnostrils, A fire that burnsall the day.
6"Behold, it is writtenbefore Me, I will 11not keepsilent, but 12I will repay; I will even repay into their bosom,
Both ctheir own 13iniquities and the iniquities of their fatherstogether," says the LORD. "Because they have 14burnedincense on the mountains And 15scorned Me on the hills, Therefore I will 16measure their formerwork into their bosom."
8Thussays the LORD, "As the newwine is found in the cluster, And one says, 'Do not destroy it, for there is dbenefit in it,' So I will act on behalf of My servants In order 17not to destroyeall of them.
"I will bringforth18offspring from Jacob, And an 19heir of My mountains from Judah; Even 20My chosenones shall inherit it, And 21My servants will dwellthere.
"22Sharon will be a pastureland for flocks, And the 23valley of Achor a restingplace for herds, For My peoplewho24seek Me.
"But you who 25forsake the LORD, Whoforget My 26holymountain, Whoset a table for fFortune, And who fill cups with mixedwine for gDestiny,
I will destine you for the 27sword, And all of you will bowdown to the 28slaughter. Because I called, but you 29did not answer; I spoke, but you did not hear. And you didevil in My sight And chose that in which I did not delight."
13Therefore, thussays the LordhGOD, "Behold, My servants will 30eat, but you will be 31hungry. Behold, My servants will 32drink, but you will be 33thirsty. Behold, My servants will 34rejoice, but you will be 35put to shame.
14"Behold, My servants will 36shoutjoyfully with a gladheart, But you will 37cry out with a iheavyheart, And you will wail with a brokenspirit.
"You will leave your name for a 38curse to My chosenones, And the LordjGOD will slay you. But kMy servants will be called by 39anothername.
16"Because he who lis blessed in the earth Will mbe blessed by the 40God of truth; And he who swears in the earth Will 41swear by the God of truth; Because the formertroubles are forgotten, And because they are hidden from My sight!
"For behold, I create42newheavens and a newearth; And the 43formerthings will not be remembered or come to nmind.
"But be 44glad and rejoiceforever in what I create; For behold, I createJerusalem for rejoicing And her people for gladness.
"I will also 45rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in My people; And there will nolonger be heard in her The voice of 46weeping and the sound of crying.
20"Nolonger will there be oin it an infant who lives but a few days, Or an oldmanwho does 47not plive out his days; For the youth will die at the age of one hundred And the q48one who does not reach the age of one hundred Will be thought accursed.
"They will 49buildhouses and inhabit them; They will also 50plantvineyards and eat their fruit.
"They will not build and 51anotherinhabit, They will not plant and anothereat; For 52as the rlifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people, And My chosenones will 53wear out the work of their hands.
"They will 54not labor in vain, Or bear children for calamity; For they are the s55offspring of those blessed by the LORD, And their descendants with them.
"It will also come to pass that before they call, I will 56answer; and while they are stillspeaking, I will hear.
"The 57wolf and the lamb will grazetogether, and the 58lion will eatstraw like the ox; and 59dust will be the serpent'sfood. They will 60donoevil or harm in all My 61holymountain," says the LORD.
