James 1:11-21 (New American Standard)

For the sun rises with a1a scorching wind and 2withers the grass ; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed ; so too the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away.

3Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial ; for once he has bbeen approved, he will receive 4the crown of life which the Lord 5has promised to those who 6love Him.

Let no one say when he is tempted, "7I am being tempted cby God "; for God cannot be tempted dby evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.
14
But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.
15
Then 8when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin ; and when 9sin eis accomplished, it brings forth death.
16
10Do not be fdeceived, 11my beloved brethren.
17
Every good thing given and every perfect gift is 12from above, coming down from 13the Father of lights, 14with whom there is no variation or gshifting shadow.
18
In the exercise of 15His will He 16brought us forth by 17the word of truth, so that we would be ha kind of 18first fruits iamong His creatures.

jThis 19you know, 20my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, 21slow to speak and 22slow to anger ;

for 23the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.

Therefore, 24putting aside all filthiness and all kthat remains of wickedness, in lhumility receive 25the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.
