James 1:14-24 (New American Standard)

14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. 15 Then 1when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when 2sin ais accomplished, it brings forth death. 16 3Do not be bdeceived, 4my beloved brethren. 17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is 5from above, coming down from 6the Father of lights, 7with whom there is no variation or cshifting shadow. 18 In the exercise of 8His will He 9brought us forth by 10the word of truth, so that we would be da kind of 11first fruits eamong His creatures. 19 fThis 12you know, 13my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, 14slow to speak and 15slow to anger; 20 for 16the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore, 17putting aside all filthiness and all gthat remains of wickedness, in hhumility receive 18the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. 22 19But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his inatural face 20in a mirror; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, jhe has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.
