James 4:10-17 (New American Standard)

View In My Bible
10 1Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you. 11 2Do not speak against one another, 3brethren. He who speaks against a brother or 4judges his brother, speaks against 5the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not 6a doer of the law but a judge of it. 12 There is only one 7Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is 8able to save and to destroy; but 9who are you who judge your neighbor? 13 10Come now, you who say, "11Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit." 14 aYet you do not know bwhat your life will be like tomorrow. 12You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. 15 cInstead, you ought to say, "13If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that." 16 But as it is, you boast in your darrogance; 14all such boasting is evil. 17 Therefore, 15to one who knows the eright thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.
