Concerning the sons of 1Ammon. Thussays the LORD : "Does Israelhavenosons ? Orhas he noheirs ? Why then has aMalcamtakenpossession of Gad And his peoplesettled in its cities ?
2"Thereforebehold, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "That I will cause a b2trumpetblast of war to be heardAgainst3Rabbah of the sons of Ammon ; And it will become a desolateheap, And her 4towns will be set on fire. Then Israel will take5possession of his possessors," Says the LORD.
3"Wail, O 6Heshbon, for 7Ai has been destroyed ! Cry out, O daughters of Rabbah, 8Girdyourselves with sackcloth and lament, And rushback and forth inside the walls ; For cMalcam will 9go into exileTogether with his priests and his princes.
4"How10boastful you are about the valleys ! Your valley is flowing away, O 11backslidingdaughter Who trusts in her 12treasures, saying, '13Who will comeagainst me?'
5"Behold, I am going to bring14terror upon you," Declares the LorddGOD of hosts, "From all directions around you; And each of you will be 15driven out eheadlong, With noone to gather the 16fugitives together.

"But afterward I will 17restore The ffortunes of the sons of Ammon," Declares the LORD.

Concerning 18Edom. Thussays the LORD of hosts, "Is therenolongerany19wisdom in 20Teman ? Has good counselbeenlost to the prudent ? Has their wisdomdecayed ?
8"Flee away, turnback, dwell in the depths, O inhabitants of 21Dedan, For I gwill bring the 22disaster of Esau upon him At the time I hpunish him.

"23If grape gathererscame to you, Would they not leavegleanings ? Ifthieves came by night, They would destroy only iuntil they had enough.

"But I have 24strippedEsaubare, I have uncovered his hidingplaces So that he will not be able to conceal himself; His joffspring has been destroyed along with his krelatives And his neighbors, and 25he is nomore.
11"Leave your l26orphansbehind, I will keep them alive ; And let your 27widowstrust in Me."

For thussays the LORD, "Behold, those mwho were not sentenced to drink the 28cup will certainlydrink it, and are you the one who will be 29completelyacquitted ? You will not be acquitted, but you will certainlydrink it.

"For I have 30sworn by Myself," declares the LORD, "that 31Bozrah will become an 32object of horror, a reproach, a ruin and a curse ; and all its cities will becomeperpetualruins."

I have 33heard a message from the LORD, And an 34envoy is sent among the nations, saying, "35Gather yourselves together and comeagainst her, And rise up for battle !"

"For behold, I have made you small among the nations, Despised among men.

"As for the terror of you, The arrogance of your heart has deceived you, O you who live in the clefts of nthe 36rock, Who occupy the height of the hill. Though you make your nest as 37high as an eagle's, I will 38bring you down from there," declares the LORD.
17"Edom will become an 39object of horror ; everyone who passes by it will be horrified and will 40hiss at all its wounds.

"Like the 41overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah with its neighbors," says the LORD, "42noone will livethere, nor will a son of manreside in it.

"43Behold, one will come up like a lion from the o44thickets of the Jordanagainstpa perennially watered pasture ; for in an instant I will make him run away from it, and whoever is 45chosen I shall appointover it. For who is 46like Me, and who will summon Me into court? And whothen is the shepherd47who can standagainst Me?"
20Thereforehear the 48plan of the LORDwhich He has plannedagainstEdom, and His purposeswhich He has purposedagainst the inhabitants of Teman : surely they will drag them off, even the littleones of the flock ; surely He will make their qpasture49desolatebecause of them.

The 50earth has quaked at the noise of their downfall. There is an outcry ! The noise of it has been heard at the rRedSea.
22Behold, sHe will mount up and 51swoop like an eagle and spread out His wingstagainstBozrah ; and the 52hearts of the mightymen of Edom in that day will be like the heart of a woman in labor.

Concerning 53Damascus. "54Hamath and 55Arpad are put to shame, For they have heardbadnews ; They are 56disheartened. There is anxiety by the sea, It 57cannot be calmed.
24"Damascus has becomehelpless ; She has turned away to flee, And panic has gripped her; 58Distress and pangs have takenhold of her Like a woman in childbirth.
25"Howuthe 59city of praise has not been deserted, The town of My joy !
26"Therefore, her 60youngmen will fall in her streets, And all the men of war will be vsilenced in that day," declares the LORD of hosts.

"I will 61setfire to the wall of Damascus, And it will devour the wfortifiedtowers of 62Ben-hadad."

Concerning 63Kedar and the kingdoms of Hazor, whichNebuchadnezzarking of Babylondefeated. Thussays the LORD, "Arise, go up to Kedar And devastate the x64men of the east.

"They will take away their tents and their flocks ; They will carryoff for themselves Their tent65curtains, all their goods and their 66camels, And they will call out to one another, '67Terror on everyside !'
30"Runaway, flee ! Dwell in the depths, O inhabitants of Hazor," declares the LORD ; "For 68Nebuchadnezzarking of Babylon has formed a planagainst you And devised a schemeagainst you.
31"Arise, go up against a nation which is 69at ease, Which livessecurely," declares the LORD. "It has 70nogates or bars ; They 71dwellalone.

"Their camels will becomeplunder, And their manycattle for booty, And I will 72scatter to all the winds those who 73cut the corners of their hair; And I will bring their disaster from everyside," declares the LORD.
33"Hazor will become a 74haunt of jackals, A desolationforever ; Noone will livethere, Nor will a son of manreside in it."

That whichcame as the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophetconcerning75Elam, 76at the beginning of the reign of Zedekiahking of Judah, saying :
35"Thussays the LORD of hosts, 'Behold, I am going to 77break the bow of Elam, The yfinest of their might.

'I will bring upon Elam the 78fourwinds From the fourends of heaven, And will 79scatter them to allthesewinds ; And there will be nonation To which the outcasts of Elam will not go.

'So I will zshatterElambefore their enemies And before those who seek their lives ; And I will 80bringcalamity upon them, Even My 81fierceanger,' declares the LORD, 'And I will 82send out the swordafter them Until I have consumed them.

'Then I will set My throne in Elam And destroyaaout of it king and princes,' Declares the LORD.

'But it will come about in the lastdays That I will 83restore the bbfortunes of Elam,' " Declares the LORD.
