The word that came to Jeremiahconcerningall the people of Judah, in the 1fourthyear of 2Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah (that was the 3firstyear of Nebuchadnezzarking of Babylon ),
2whichJeremiah the prophetspoke to all the 4people of Judah and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying,
"From the 5thirteenthyear of 6Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to thisday, athese7twenty-threeyears the word of the LORD has come to me, and I have spoken to you b8again and again, but you have not listened.
"And the LORD has sent to you all His 9servants the prophetscagain and again, but you have not listenednorinclined your ear to hear,
5saying, '10Turnnoweveryone from his evilway and from the evil of your deeds, and dwell on the landwhich the LORD has given to you and your forefathers11forever and ever;
and 12do not goafterothergods to dserve them and to eworship them, and do not provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands, and I will do you noharm.'
"Yet you have not listened to Me," declares the LORD, "in order that you might 13provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands to your own harm.
8"Thereforethussays the LORD of hosts, 'Because you have not obeyed My words,
9behold, I will 14send and takeall the families of the north,' declares the LORD, 'and I will send to Nebuchadnezzarking of Babylon, 15My servant, and will bring them againstthisland and against its inhabitants and againstallthesenationsroundabout; and I will futterlydestroy them and 16make them a horror and a hissing, and an everlastingdesolation.
'Moreover, I will g17take from them the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the 18sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp.
'19Thiswholeland will be a desolation and a horror, and thesenations will serve the king of Babylon20seventyyears.
