16"After I had given the deed of purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, then I 1prayed to the LORD, saying,
'2AhLordaGOD! Behold, You have 3made the heavens and the earth by Your greatpower and by Your outstretchedarm! 4Nothing is toodifficult for You,
who 5showslovingkindness to thousands, but 6repays the iniquity of fathers into the bosom of their childrenafter them, O 7great and 8mightyGod. The 9LORD of hosts is His name;
1910great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose11eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men, 12giving to everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds;
20who has 13setsigns and wonders in the land of Egypt, and even to thisday both in Israel and among mankind; and You have 14made a name for Yourself, as at thisday.
'You 15brought Your peopleIsrael out of the land of Egypt with signs and with wonders, and with a stronghand and with an outstretchedarm and with greatterror;
and gave them thisland, which You 16swore to their forefathers to give them, a landflowing with milk and honey.
'They 17came in and tookpossession of it, but they 18did not obey Your voice or 19walk in Your law; they have donenothing of all that You commanded them to do; therefore You have made 20allthiscalamitycome upon them.
24'Behold, the 21siegeramps have reached the city to take it; and the city is 22given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fightagainst it, because of the 23sword, the famine and the pestilence; and what You have spoken has 24come to pass; and behold, You see it.
'You have said to me, O LordbGOD, "Buy for yourself the field with money and call in witnesses "-although the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.' "
Then the word of the LORDcame to Jeremiah, saying,
