Now on the day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinkingwine in their oldestbrother'shouse,

a messengercame to Job and said, "The oxen were plowing and the adonkeysfeedingbeside them,

and bthe 1Sabeanscattacked and took them. They also dslew the servants with the edge of the sword, and eI alone have escaped to tell you."

While he was stillspeaking, another also came and said, "2The fire of Godfell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you."

While he was stillspeaking, another also came and said, "The 3Chaldeansformedthreebands and made a raid on the camels and took them and fslew the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you."

While he was still speaking, another also came and said, "Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinkingwine in their oldestbrother'shouse,

and behold, a greatwindcame from across the wilderness and struck the fourcorners of the house, and it fell on the youngpeople and they died, and I alone have escaped to tell you."

Then Jobarose and 4tore his robe and shaved his head, and he fell to the ground and worshiped.

He said, "5Naked I came from my mother'swomb, And naked I shall returnthere. The 6LORDgave and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD."
