A largecrowdfollowed Him, because they saw the a4signswhich He was performing on those who were sick.
3Then5Jesuswent up on the mountain, and there He satdown with His disciples.
4Now6the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.
5ThereforeJesus, lifting up His eyes and seeing that a largecrowd was coming to Him, said to 7Philip, "Where are we to buybread, so that these may eat ?"6This He was saying to 8test him, for He Himselfknewwhat He was intending to do.
79Philipanswered Him, "10Twohundredbdenarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, for everyone to receive a little."
8One of His 11disciples, 12Andrew, SimonPeter'sbrother, said to Him,

"There is a ladherewhohasfivebarleyloaves and two13fish, but what are these for somanypeople ?"
10Jesussaid, "Have the peoplecsitdown."Now there was 14muchgrass in the place. So the mendsatdown, in numberabout15fivethousand.
11Jesusthentook the loaves, and 16having giventhanks, He distributed to those who were seated ; likewisealso of the 17fish as much as they wanted.
12When they were filled, He said to His 18disciples, "Gather up the leftoverfragmentsso that nothing will be lost."13So they gathered them up, and filledtwelve19baskets with fragments from the fivebarleyloaveswhich were leftover by those who had eaten.
14Therefore when the peoplesaw the esignwhich He had performed, they said, "This is truly the 20Prophet who is to come into the world."
