For 1He knew the one who was betraying Him; for thisreason He said, "Not all of you are clean."

Sowhen He had washed their feet, and 2taken His garments and reclined at the table again, He said to them, "Do you knowwhat I have done to you?

"You call Me 3Teacher and 4Lord; and you are right, for so I am.

"If I then, 5the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you alsoought to washoneanother'sfeet.

"For I gave you 6an example that you also should do as I did to you.

"Truly, truly, I say to you, 7a slave is not greater than his master, nor is 8one who is sentgreater than the one who sent him.

"If you knowthesethings, you are 9blessedif you do them.

"10I do not speak of all of you. I know the ones I have 11chosen; but it is 12that the Scripture may be fulfilled, '13HE WHO EATS MY BREAD HAS LIFTED UP HIS HEELAGAINST ME.'

"From now on 14I am telling you before it comes to pass, so that when it does occur, you may believe that 15I am He.

"Truly, truly, I say to you, 16he who receiveswhomever* I sendreceives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me."
Jesus Predicts His Betrayal
21 When Jesus had saidthis, He 17became troubled in spirit, and testified and said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, that 18one of you will betray Me."
