16"1A littlewhile, and 2you will nolongersee Me; and again a littlewhile, and 3you will see Me."17
Some of His disciplesthensaid to oneanother, "What is thisthing He is telling us, '4A littlewhile, and you will not see Me; and again a littlewhile, and you will see Me'; and, 'because5I go to the Father '?"
18So they were saying, "What is this that He says, 'A littlewhile '? We do not knowwhat He is talking about."
196Jesusknew that they wished to question Him, and He said to them, "Are you deliberatingtogetheraboutthis, that I said, 'A littlewhile, and you will not see Me, and again a littlewhile, and you will see Me'?20"Truly, truly, I say to you, that 7you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will grieve, but 8your grief will be turned into joy.21"9Whenever a woman is in labor she hasapain, because her hour has come; but when she givesbirth to the child, she nolongerremembers the anguishbecause of the joy that a bchild has been born into the world.22"Therefore10you toohavegriefnow; but 11I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and noone will take your joyaway from you.
23"12In that day13you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, 14if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.24"15Untilnow you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your 16joy may be madefull.25"Thesethings I have spoken to you in c17figurativelanguage; 18an hour is comingwhen I will nolongerspeak to you in dfigurativelanguage, but will tell you plainly of the Father.26"19In that day20you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf;27for 21the FatherHimselfloves you, because you have loved Me and 22have believed that 23I cameforth from the Father.28"24I cameforth from the Father and have come into the world; I am leaving the worldagain and 25going to the Father."29
His disciplessaid, "Lo, now You are speakingplainly and are not eusing26a figure of speech.
30"Now we know that You knowallthings, and havenoneed for anyone to question You; by this we 27believe that You 28came from God."
31Jesusanswered them, "Do you nowbelieve?32"Behold, 29an hour is coming, and has already come, for 30you to be scattered, each to 31his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet 32I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.33"Thesethings I have spoken to you, so that 33in Me you may havepeace. 34In the world you havetribulation, but 35takecourage; 36I have overcome the world."
