John 17:1-21

The High Priestly Prayer

Jesus spoke these things; and 1lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said, "Father, the hour has come; 2glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You,
even as 3You gave Him authority over all flesh, that 4to all whom You have given Him, 5He may give eternal life.
"This is eternal life, that they may know You, 6the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom 7You have sent.
"8I glorified You on the earth, 9having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do.
"Now, Father, 10glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had 11with You before the world was.
"12I have manifested Your name to the men whom 13You gave Me out of the world; they were 14Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have 15kept Your word.
"Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You;
for 16the words which You gave Me 17I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that 18I came forth from You, and they believed that 19You sent Me.
"20I ask on their behalf; 21I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom 22You have given Me; for 23they are Yours;
and 24all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them.
"I am no longer in the world; and yet 25they themselves are in the world, and 26I come to You. 27Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name 28which You have given Me, that 29they may be one even as We are.
"While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name 30which You have given Me; and I guarded them and 31not one of them perished but 32the son of perdition, so that the 33Scripture would be fulfilled.

The Disciples in the World

"But now 34I come to You; and 35these things I speak in the world so that they may have My 36joy made full in themselves.
"I have given them Your word; and 37the world has hated them, because 38they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
"I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from 39the evil one.
"40They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
"41Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.
"As 42You sent Me into the world, 43I also have sent them into the world.
"For their sakes I 44sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be 45sanctified 46in truth.
"I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word;
that they may all be one; 47even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, 48so that the world may believe that 49You sent Me.
