They were sayingthis, 1testing Him, 2so that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesusstoopeddown and with His fingerwrote on the ground.

But when they persisted in asking Him, 3He straightened up, and said to them, "4He who is withoutsin among you, let him be the 5first to throw a stone at her."

When they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the olderones, and He was leftalone, and the woman, where she was, in the center of the court.

6Straightening up, Jesussaid to her, "Woman, where are they? Did noonecondemn you?"

She said, "Noone, Lord." And Jesussaid, "7I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on 8sinnomore."]
Jesus Is the Light of the World
12ThenJesusagainspoke to them, saying, "9I am the Light of the world; 10he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life."

So the Phariseessaid to Him, "11You are testifyingaboutYourself; Your testimony is not true."

Jesusanswered and said to them, "12Evenif I testifyaboutMyself, My testimony is true, for I know13where I came from and where I am going; but 14you do not knowwhere I come from orwhere I am going.

"15You judgeaccording to the flesh; 16I am not judginganyone.

"But even17if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone in it, but I and the Father who sent Me.
