They came out, they and all their armies with them, 4as manypeople as the sand that is on the seashore , with verymanyhorses and chariots.

So all of thesekings having agreed to meet, came and encampedtogether at the waters of Merom, to fightagainstIsrael.

Then the LORDsaid to Joshua, "5Do not be afraidbecause of them, for tomorrow at thistime I will deliverall of them slainbeforeIsrael ; you shall 6hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire."

So Joshua and all the people of war with him came upon them suddenly by the waters of Merom, and attacked them.

The LORDdelivered them into the hand of Israel, so that they bdefeated them, and pursued them as far as GreatSidon and 7Misrephoth-maim and the valley of 8Mizpeh to the east ; and they struck them untilnosurvivor was left to them.
9Joshuadid to them as the LORD had told him; he 9hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots with fire.

Then Joshuaturnedback at that time, and captured10Hazor and struck its king with the sword ; for Hazorformerly was the head of allthesekingdoms.
1111They struckeverypersonwho was in it with the edge of the sword, cutterlydestroying them; there was no one leftwhobreathed. And he burnedHazor with fire.
12Joshuacapturedall the cities of thesekings, and all their kings, and he struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterlydestroyed them; just12as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded.
13However, Israel did not burnanycities that stood on their mounds, exceptHazoralone, which Joshuaburned.
