1[a]1Jude, a 2bond-servant of JesusChrist, and brother of [b]James, To 3those who are the called, beloved in God the Father, and 4kept for JesusChrist:
2
5May mercy and peace and love6be multiplied to you.
3
7Beloved, while I was makingeveryeffort to write you about our 8commonsalvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you 9contendearnestly for 10the faith which was once for all11handeddown to 12the [c]saints.
4
For certainpersons have 13crept in unnoticed, those who were longbeforehand[d]14marked out for thiscondemnation, ungodlypersons who turn15the grace of our God into 16licentiousness and 17deny our onlyMaster and Lord, JesusChrist.
5
Now I desire to 18remind you, though 19you knowallthingsonce for all, that [e]the Lord, 20after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, [f]subsequentlydestroyedthose who did not believe.
6
And 21angels who did not keep their owndomain, but abandoned their properabode, He has 22kept in eternalbondsunderdarkness for the judgment of the greatday,
7
just as 23Sodom and Gomorrah and the 24citiesaround them, since they in the sameway as theseindulged in grossimmorality and 25wentafter[g]strangeflesh, are exhibited as an [h]26example in undergoing the 27punishment of eternalfire.
8
Yet in the samewaythesemen, also by dreaming, 28defile the flesh, and rejectauthority, and revile[i]angelic majesties.
9
But 29Michael30the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and arguedabout31the body of Moses, did not darepronounceagainst him a railingjudgment, but said, "32The Lordrebuke you!"
10
But 33thesemenrevile the things which they do not understand; and 34the things which they know by instinct, 35likeunreasoninganimals, by thesethings they are [j]destroyed.
11
Woe to them! For they have gone36the way of Cain, and for pay[k]they have rushedheadlong into 37the error of Balaam, and 38perished in the rebellion of Korah.
12
These are the men who are [l]hiddenreefs39in your lovefeasts when they feast with you 40withoutfear, caring for themselves; 41cloudswithoutwater, 42carriedalong by winds; autumntreeswithoutfruit, [m]doublydead, 43uprooted;
13
44wildwaves of the sea, casting up 45their own[n]shamelikefoam; wanderingstars, 46for whom the [o]blackdarkness has been reservedforever.
14
It was also about these men that 47Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, "48Behold, the Lordcame with [p]manythousands of His holyones,
15
49to executejudgment upon all, and to convictall the ungodly of all their ungodlydeedswhich they have done in an ungodlyway, and of all the harshthingswhich50ungodlysinners have spokenagainst Him."
16
These are 51grumblers, findingfault, 52followingafter their own lusts; [q]they speak53arrogantly, flatteringpeople54for the sake of gaining an advantage.
