Then the LORDsaid to Moses, "Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them: '1No one shall defile himself for a dead person among his people,
22except for his relatives who are nearest to him, his mother and his father and his son and his daughter and his brother,

also for his virginsister, who is near to him abecause she hashadnohusband ; for her he may defile himself.
4
'He shall not defile himself as a brelative by marriage among his people, and so profane himself.
5
'3They shall not make any baldness on their heads, 4norshaveoff the edges of their beards, 5normake any cuts in their flesh.
6
'They shall be holy to their God and 6not profane the name of their God, for they present the offerings by firecto the LORD, 7the food of their God ; so they shall be holy.
7
'8They shall not take a woman who is profaned by harlotry, nor shall they take a womandivorced from her husband ; for he is holy to his God.

'You shall consecrate him, therefore, for he offers9the food of your God ; he shall be holy to you; for I the LORD, who sanctifies you, am holy.

'10Also the daughter of anypriest, if she profanes herself by harlotry, she profanes her father ; she shall be burned with fire.

'The priest who is the highestamong his brothers, on whosehead the anointingoil has been poured and dwho has been consecrated to wear the garments, 11shall not euncover his headnortear his clothes ;
1112nor shall he approachanydeadperson, nordefile himself even for his father or his mother ;
1213nor shall he go out of the sanctuarynorprofane the sanctuary of his God, for 14the consecration of the anointingoil of his God is on him; I am the LORD.

'He shall take a wife in her virginity.

'15A widow, or a divorced woman, or one who is profaned by harlotry, these he may not take ; but rather he is to fmarry a virgin of his own people,
15
so that he will not profane his goffspring among his people ; for I am the LORD who sanctifies him.' "
16
Then the LORDspoke to Moses, saying,
17"Speak to Aaron, saying, 'Noman of your hoffspring throughout their generationswhohas a defect shall approach to offer the 16food of his God.
18
'17For noonewho has a defect shall approach : a blindman, or a lameman, or he who has a i18disfigured face, or any deformed limb,
19or a manwhohas a brokenfootorbrokenhand,
20or a hunchbackor a dwarf, or one who has a jdefect in his eyeoreczemaorscabsor19crushedtesticles.
21'Nomanamong the kdescendants of Aaron the priestwho has a defect is to comenear to offer the LORD'Sofferings by fire ; since he has a defect, he shall not comenear to offer20the food of his God.
22
'He may eat21the food of his God, both of the mostholy and of the holy,
23only he shall not go in to the veil or comenear the altarbecause he has a defect, so that he will not profane My sanctuaries. For I am the LORD who sanctifies them.' "
24
So Mosesspoke to Aaron and to his sons and to all the sons of Israel.
