And He alsotoldthisparable to somepeople who 1trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and 2viewedothers with contempt :
10"Twomen3went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a taxcollector.11"The Pharisee4stood and was prayingthis to himself : 'God, I thank You that I am not likeotherpeople : swindlers, unjust, adulterers, orevenlikethistaxcollector.12'I 5fasttwice a week ; I 6paytithes of all that I get.'13"But the taxcollector, 7standingsomedistanceaway, 8was evenunwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but 9was beating his breast, saying, 'God, be amerciful to me, the sinner !'14"I tell you, thismanwent to his housejustifiedratherthan the other ; 10for everyone who exaltshimself will be humbled, but he who humbleshimself will be exalted."
