And He was 1teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.
And there was a woman who for eighteenyears had had2a sickness caused by a spirit ; and she was bentdouble, and could not straighten up at all.
When Jesussaw her, He called her over and said to her, "Woman, you are freed from your sickness."13
And He 3laid His hands on her; and immediately she was madeerectagain and began 4glorifyingGod.
But 5the synagogueofficial, indignantbecauseJesus6had healed on the Sabbath, began saying to the crowd in response, "7There are sixdays in whichworkshould be done ; socomeduring them and gethealed, and not on the Sabbathday."
But 8the Lordanswered him and said, "You hypocrites, 9does not each of you on the Sabbathuntie his oxor his donkey from the stall and lead him away to water him?16"And thiswoman, 10a daughter of Abraham as she is, whom11Satan has bound for eighteenlongyears, should she not have been released from thisbond on the Sabbathday ?"17
As He saidthis, all His opponents were being humiliated ; and 12the entirecrowd was rejoicingoverall the gloriousthingsbeingdone by Him.
