But they kept on insisting, saying, "He stirs up the people, teachingalloverJudea, 1starting from Galilee even as far as thisplace."

WhenPilateheard it, he askedwhether the man was a Galilean.

And when he learned that He belonged* to Herod'sjurisdiction, he sent Him to 2Herod, who himselfalso was in Jerusalem at that time.
Jesus before Herod
8NowHerod was veryglad when he sawJesus; for 3he hadwanted to see Him for a longtime, because he had been hearingabout Him and was hoping to seesomesignperformed by Him.

And he questioned Him at somelength*; but 4He answered him nothing.

And the chiefpriests and the scribes were standing there, accusing Him vehemently.

And Herod with his soldiers, after treating Him with contempt and mocking Him, 5dressed Him in a gorgeousrobe and sent Him back to Pilate.

Now6Herod and Pilatebecamefriends with oneanother that veryday; for before they had been*enemies with eachother.
Pilate Seeks Jesus' Release
13Pilatesummoned the chiefpriests and the 7rulers and the people,

and said to them, "You broughtthisman to me as one who 8incites the people to rebellion, and behold, having examined Him before you, I 9have foundnoguilt in thisman regarding the chargeswhich you makeagainst Him

"No, nor has 10Herod, for he sent Him back to us; and behold, nothingdeservingdeath has beendone by Him.
