Mark 14:16

16 The disciples went out and came to the city, and found it just as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover.

Mark 14:16 Meaning and Commentary

Mark 14:16

And his disciples went forth
The two disciples, as the Arabic version has it, Peter and John, set out from Bethany to Jerusalem directly:

and came into the city;
the city of Jerusalem:

and found as he had said unto them;
a man bearing a pitcher of water, whom they followed to the house he went into, and addressed the master of the house, as Jesus had bid them; when he showed them an upper room, very commodious and fit for the purpose, as Christ had said; and which is a considerable proof of the prescience of Christ:

and they made ready the passover;
they bought a lamb; they had it killed in the temple, according to rule; and they brought it to the house, where they were to sup, and got it roasted; and provided unleavened bread, and wine, and bitter herbs, and every thing that was proper for the feast; (See Gill on Matthew 26:19).

Mark 14:16 In-Context

14 and wherever he enters, say to the owner of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is My guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?"'
15 "And he himself will show you a large upper room furnished and ready; prepare for us there."
16 The disciples went out and came to the city, and found it just as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover.
17 When it was evening He came with the twelve.
18 As they were reclining at the table and eating, Jesus said, "Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me-one who is eating with Me."
