11As they approachedJerusalem, at Bethphage and 2Bethany, near3the Mount of Olives, He senttwo of His disciples,
2
and said to them, "Go into the villageopposite you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find a colttied there, on whichnooneyet has eversat ; untie it and bring it here.3"Ifanyonesays to you, 'Why are you doingthis ?' you say, 'The Lordhasneed of it'; and immediately he awill send it backhere."4
They wentaway and found a colttied at the door, outside in the street ; and they untied it.
5Some of the bystanders were saying to them, "What are you doing, untying the colt ?"
6
They spoke to them just as Jesus had told them, and they gave them permission.
74They brought the colt to Jesus and put their coats on it; and He sat on it.
8
And manyspread their coats in the road, and others spread leafybranches which they had cut from the fields.
9Those who went in front and those who followed were shouting : "Hosanna ! 5BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD ;
10Blessed is the comingkingdom of our fatherDavid ; Hosanna6in the highest !"
117Jesus enteredJerusalem and came into the temple ; and after lookingaround at everything, 8He left for Bethany with the twelve, since it was alreadylate.
129On the nextday, when they had leftBethany, He became hungry.
13Seeing at a distance a figtree in leaf, He went to see ifperhaps He would findanything on it; and when He came to it, He foundnothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.
14
He said to it, "May nooneevereatfruit from you again !" And His disciples were listening.
1510Then they came to Jerusalem. And He entered the temple and began to drive out those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those who were sellingbdoves ;
16
and He would not permitanyone to carrycmerchandisethrough the temple.
17
And He began to teach and say to them, "Is it not written, '11MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER FOR ALL THE NATIONS '? 12But you have made it a ROBBERS'dDEN."18
The chiefpriests and the scribesheard this, and 13began seekinghow to destroy Him; for they were afraid of Him, for 14the wholecrowd was astonished at His teaching.
1915Wheneveningcame, ethey would go out of the city.
2016As they were passing by in the morning, they saw the figtreewithered from the roots up.
21
Being reminded, Petersaid to Him, "17Rabbi, look, the figtreewhich You cursed has withered."
22
And Jesusansweredsaying to them, "18Havefaith in God.23"19Truly I say to you, whoeversays to thismountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.24"Therefore I say to you, 20allthings for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.25"Whenever you 21standpraying, 22forgive, if you haveanythingagainstanyone, so that your Fatherwho is in heaven will alsoforgive you your transgressions.26
["f23But if you do not forgive, neither will your Fatherwho is in heavenforgive your transgressions."]
27
They cameagain to Jerusalem. 24And as He was walking in the temple, the chiefpriests and the scribes and the elderscame to Him,
28
and began saying to Him, "By whatauthority are You doingthesethings, orwhogave You thisauthority to dothesethings ?"
29
And Jesussaid to them, "I will ask you onequestion, and you answer Me, and then I will tell you by whatauthority I dothesethings.30"Was the baptism of John from heaven, or from men ? Answer Me."31
They began reasoningamongthemselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' He will say, 'Thenwhy did you not believe him?'
32
"But gshall we say, 'From men '?"-they were afraid of the people, for everyoneconsideredJohn to have been a realprophet.
33AnsweringJesus, they said, "We do not know." And Jesussaid to them, "Norhwill I tell you by whatauthority I dothesethings."
