And He was saying, "The kingdom of God is like a man who castsseed upon the soil;27and he goes to bed at night and gets up by day, and the seedsprouts and grows-how, he himself does not know.28"The soilproducescrops by itself; first the blade, then the head, then the maturegrain in the head.29"But when the croppermits, he immediatelya1puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come."
302And He said, "How shall we b3picture the kingdom of God, or by whatparable shall we present it?31"It is like a mustardseed, which, whensown upon the soil, though it is smaller than all the seeds that are upon the soil,32yetwhen it is sown, it grows up and becomeslarger than all the gardenplants and formslargebranches; so that 4THE BIRDS OF THE cAIRcanNESTUNDER ITS SHADE."33
With manysuchparables He was speaking the word to them, so far as they were able to hear it;
and He did not speak to them 5without a parable; but He was 6explainingeverythingprivately to His owndisciples.
