After crying out and throwing him into terribleconvulsions, it came out; and the boy became so muchlike a corpse that most of them said, "He is dead!"

But Jesustook him by the hand and raised him; and he got up.

When He came1into the house, His disciples began questioning Him privately*, "Why*could we not drive it out?"

And He said to them, "Thiskindcannot*come out by anything but prayer."
Death and Resurrection Foretold
302From there they went out and began to gothroughGalilee, and He did not wantanyone to know about it.

For He was teaching His disciples and telling them, "3The Son of Man is to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill Him; and when He has been killed, He will risethreedayslater."

But 4they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask Him.

5They came to Capernaum; and when He was in 6the house, He began to question them, "What were you discussing on the way?"

But they keptsilent, for on the way7they had discussed with oneanotherwhich of them was the greatest.

Sittingdown, He called the twelve and said to them, "8Ifanyonewants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all."

Taking a child, He set him before* them, and taking him in His arms, He said to them,
