Elijahappeared to them along with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus.

Petersaid to Jesus, "2Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; 3let us makethreetabernacles, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah."

For he did not knowwhat to answer; for they becameterrified.

Then a cloudformed, overshadowing them, and 4a voicecame out of the cloud, "5This is My belovedSon, listen to Him!"

All at once they lookedaround and sawnoone with them anymore, exceptJesusalone.

6As they were comingdown from the mountain, He 7gave them orders not to relate to anyonewhat they had seen, until** the Son of Manrose from the dead.

They seized upon that statement, discussing with oneanotherwhatrising from the deadmeant.

They asked Him, saying, "Why is it that the scribessay that 8Elijahmustcomefirst?"

And He said to them, "Elijah does firstcome and restoreallthings. And yet how is it written of 9the Son of Man that 10He will suffermanythings and be treated with contempt?

"But I say to you that Elijah has indeedcome, and they did to him whatever they wished, just as it is written of him."
