12"1From the days of John the Baptistuntilnow the kingdom of heavenasuffersviolence, and violentmenbtake it by force.13"For all the prophets and the LawprophesieduntilJohn.14"And if you are willing to accept it, John himself is 2Elijah who cwas to come.15"3He who hasears to hear, dlet him hear.16"But to what shall I comparethisgeneration ? It is likechildrensitting in the marketplaces, whocall out to the other children,17and say, 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance ; we sang a dirge, and you did not emourn.'18"For Johncameneither4eatingnor5drinking, and they say, '6He has a demon !'19"The Son of Mancameeating and drinking, and they say, 'Behold, a gluttonousman and a fdrunkard, 7a friend of taxcollectors and gsinners !' Yetwisdom is vindicated by her deeds."
20Then He began to denounce the cities in whichmost of His h8miracles were done, because they did not repent.
21"9Woe to you, Chorazin ! Woe to you, 10Bethsaida ! For if the imiracles had occurred in 11Tyre and 12Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repentedlongago in j13sackcloth and ashes.22"Nevertheless I say to you, 14it will be moretolerable for Tyre and Sidon in 15the day of judgmentthan for you.
