11WhenJesus had finishedthesewords, He departed from Galilee and 2came into the region of Judeabeyond the Jordan ;
and alargecrowdsfollowed Him, and 3He healed them there.
Some Phariseescame to bJesus, testing Him and asking, "4Is it lawful for a man to cdivorce his wife for anyreason at all ?"
And He answered and said, "Have you not read5that He who created them from the beginningMADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE,5and said, '6FOR THISREASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND 7THE TWO SHALL BECOMEONEFLESH '?6"So they are nolongertwo, but oneflesh. WhatthereforeGod has joinedtogether, let nomanseparate."7
They said to Him, "8Whythen did Mosescommand to GIVE HER A CERTIFICATE OF DIVORCE AND SEND her AWAY ?"
He said to them, "Because of your hardness of heartMosespermitted you to ddivorce your wives ; but from the beginning it has not beenthisway.9"And I say to you, 9whoeveredivorces his wife, except for fimmorality, and marriesanotherwomangcommitsadulteryh."10
The disciplessaid to Him, "If the relationship of the man with his wife is likethis, it is better not to marry."
But He said to them, "10Not allmen can acceptthisstatement, but 11only those to whom it has been given.12"For there are eunuchswho were born that way from their mother'swomb ; and there are eunuchswho were madeeunuchs by men ; and there are also eunuchswhomadethemselveseunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to accept this, let him accept it."
1312Then some children were brought to Him so that He might lay His hands on them and pray ; and the disciplesrebuked them.
But Jesussaid, "i13Let the childrenalone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for 14the kingdom of heavenbelongs to such as these."15
After laying His hands on them, He departed from there.
1615And someonecame to Him and said, "Teacher, whatgoodthing shall I do that I may obtain16eternallife ?"
And He said to him, "Why are you asking Me aboutwhat is good ? There is only One who is good ; but 17if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments."18
Then he said to Him, "Whichones ?" And Jesussaid, "18YOU SHALL NOT COMMITMURDER ; YOU SHALL NOT COMMITADULTERY ; YOU SHALL NOT STEAL ; YOU SHALL NOT BEARFALSEWITNESS ;1919HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER ; and 20YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."20
The youngmansaid to Him, "Allthesethings I have kept ; whatam I stilllacking ?"
21Jesussaid to him, "If you wish to be jcomplete, go and 21sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have22treasure in heaven ; and come, follow Me."22
But when the youngmanheardthisstatement, he wentawaygrieving ; for he was one who ownedmuchproperty.
And Jesussaid to His disciples, "Truly I say to you, 23it is hard for a richman to enter the kingdom of heaven.24"Again I say to you, 24it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a richman to enter the kingdom of God."25
When the disciplesheard this, they were veryastonished and said, "Thenwhocan be saved ?"
And looking at them Jesussaid to them, "25With peoplethis is impossible, but with Godallthings are possible."
27ThenPetersaid to Him, "Behold, we have lefteverything and followed You; whatthen will there be for us?"
And Jesussaid to them, "Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regenerationwhen26the Son of Man will sit on kHis gloriousthrone, 27you also shall sit upon twelvethrones, judging the twelvetribes of Israel.29"And 28everyonewho has lefthousesorbrothersorsistersorfatherormotherlorchildrenorfarms for My name'ssake, will receivemmanytimes as much, and will inheriteternallife.30"29But many who are first will be last ; and the last, first.
