11Nowafter the Sabbath, as it began to dawntoward the first day of the week, 2MaryMagdalene and the otherMarycame to look at the grave.

And behold, a severeearthquake had occurred, for 3an angel of the Lorddescended from heaven and came and rolledaway4the stone and sat upon it.

And 5his appearance was likelightning, and his clothing as white as snow.

The guardsshook for fear of him and becamelikedeadmen.

The angelsaid to the women, "6Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.

"He is not here, for He has risen, 7just as He said. Come, see the placewhere He was lying.

"Goquickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is goingahead of you 8into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you."

And they left the tombquickly with fear and greatjoy and ran to report it to His disciples.

And behold, Jesusmet them and greeted* them. And they came up and tookhold of His feet and worshiped Him.

ThenJesussaid to them, "9Do not be afraid; go and takeword to 10My brethren to leave11for Galilee, and there they will see Me."

Now while they were on their way, some of 12the guardcame into the city and reported to the chiefpriestsall that had happened.
