Numbers 22:26 Meaning and Commentary

Numbers 22:26

And the angel of the Lord went further, and stood in a narrow
place
More narrow than the other, at a further distance:

where was no way to turn, either to the right hand or to the left;
it was so strait and close a place that the angel filled the whole breadth of it, that there was no passing him; so that there was no getting forward nor backward; not forward, because the angel filled up the way, and there was no slipping by him; nor backward, because it could not turn itself to the right or left.

Numbers 22:26 In-Context

25 When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD , she pressed herself to the wall and pressed Balaam's foot against the wall, so he struck her again.
26 The angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place where there was no way to turn to the right hand or the left.
27 When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD , she lay down under Balaam; so Balaam was angry and struck the donkey with his stick.
28 And the LORD opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?"
