Then the LORDspoke to Moses, saying,
12"Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, 'Ifanyman'swife1goesastray and is unfaithful to him,
and a manhas2intercourse with her and it is hidden from the eyes of her husband and she is aundetected, although she has defiledherself, and there is nowitness against her and she has not been caught in the act,
14bif a spirit of 3jealousycomesover him and he is jealous of his wife when she has defiled herself, or if a spirit of jealousycomesover him and he is jealous of his wife when she has not defiled herself,
the man shall then bring his wife to the priest, and shall bring as can offering for her one-tenth of an dephah of barleymeal; he shall not pouroil on it norputfrankincense on it, for it is a grain offering of jealousy, a grain offering of memorial, 4a reminder of iniquity.
'Then the priest shall bring her near and have her standbefore the LORD,
and the priest shall takeholywater in an earthenwarevessel; and ehe shall takesome of the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle and put it into the water.
'The priest shall then have the womanstandbefore the LORD and let the hair of the woman'sheadgoloose, and place the grain offering of memorialfin her hands, which is the grain offering of jealousy, and in the hand of the priest is to be the water of bitterness that brings a curse.
'The priest shall have her take an oath and shall say to the woman, "Ifnoman has lain with you and if you have not 5goneastray into uncleanness, being under the authority of your husband, be gimmune to thiswater of bitterness that brings a curse;
20if you, however, have 6goneastray, being under the authority of your husband, and if you have defiled yourself and a manotherthan your husbandhashadintercourse with you"
(then the priest shall have the woman7swear with the oath of the curse, and the priest shall say to the woman ), "the LORDmake you a curse and an oathamong your people by the LORD'Smaking your thighhwasteaway and your abdomenswell;
and thiswater that brings a curse shall go into your istomach, and make your abdomenswell and your thighjwasteaway." And the woman8shall say, "Amen. Amen."
'The priest shall then writethesecurses on a scroll, and he shall kwash them off into the water of bitterness.
'Then he shall make the womandrink the water of bitterness that brings a curse, so that the water which brings a curse will go into her land cause bitterness.
'The priest shall take the grain offering of jealousy from the woman'shand, and he shall wave the grain offeringbefore the LORD and bring it to the altar;
and 9the priest shall take a handful of the grain offering as its memorialoffering and offer it up in smoke on the altar, and afterward he shall make the womandrink the water.
'When he has made her drink the water, then it shall come about, if she has defiled herself and has beenunfaithful to her husband, that the water which brings a curse will go into her mand cause bitterness, and her abdomen will swell and her thigh will nwasteaway, and the woman will become10a curseamong her people.
'But if the woman has not defiled herself and is clean, she will then be free and conceiveochildren.
29'This is the law of jealousy: when a wife, being under the authority of her husband, 11goesastray and defiles herself,
30orwhen a spirit of jealousycomesover a man and he is jealous of his wife, he shall then make the womanstandbefore the LORD, and the priest shall applyallthislaw to her.
'Moreover, the man will be free from pguilt, but that woman shall 12bear her qguilt.' "
