He said to them, "Return to me again in three days." So the people departed.
Jeroboam did not again recover strength in the days of Abijah; and the LORD struck him and he died.
For he said to Judah, "Let us build these cities and surround them with walls and towers, gates and bars. The land is still ours because we have sought the LORD our God; we have sought Him, and He has given us rest on every side." So they built and prospered.
He took great pride in the ways of the LORD and again removed the high places and the Asherim from Judah.
But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there not yet a prophet of the LORD here that we may inquire of him?"
The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD , but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me but always evil. He is Micaiah, son of Imla." But Jehoshaphat said, "Let not the king say so."
The high places, however, were not removed; the people had not yet directed their hearts to the God of their fathers.
He did right in the sight of the LORD , according to all that his father Uzziah had done; however he did not enter the temple of the LORD . But the people continued acting corruptly.
For again the Edomites had come and attacked Judah and carried away captives.
His servants spoke further against the LORD God and against His servant Hezekiah.
Nevertheless the people still sacrificed in the high places, although only to the LORD their God.
For in the eighth year of his reign while he was still a youth, he began to seek the God of his father David; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the Asherim, the carved images and the molten images.
Then Shaphan brought the book to the king and reported further word to the king, saying, "Everything that was entrusted to your servants they are doing.
