12Now I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances2have turned out for the greaterprogress of the 3gospel,
13so that my a4imprisonment in the cause of Christ has becomewellknownthroughout the wholebpraetorianguard and to 5everyoneelse,
and that most of the cbrethren, trusting in the Lord because of my d6imprisonment, have7farmorecourage to speak the word of Godwithoutfear.
158Some, to be sure, are preachingChristevenefrom envy and strife, but somealsoffrom goodwill ;
the latter do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the 9gospel ;
the formerproclaimChrist10out of selfishambitiongratherthan from puremotives, thinking to cause me distress in my h11imprisonment.
18Whatthen ? Only that in everyway, whether in pretenseor in truth, Christ is proclaimed ; and in this I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice,
for I know that this will turn out for my ideliverance12through your jprayers and the provision of 13the Spirit of JesusChrist,
20according to my 14earnestexpectation and 15hope, that I will not be put to shame in anything, but that with 16allboldness, Christ will evennow, as always, be 17exalted in my body, 18whether by lifeor by death.
