Proverbs 19:20-29 (New American Standard)

20 1Listen to counsel and accept discipline, That you may be wise athe rest of your days. 21 Many 2plans are in a man's heart, But the 3counsel of the LORD will stand. 22 What is desirable in a man is his bkindness, And it is better to be a poor man than a liar . 23 The c4fear of the LORD leads to life, So that one may sleep 5satisfied, d6untouched by evil. 24 The 7sluggard buries his hand 8in the dish, But will not even bring it back to his mouth. 25 9Strike a scoffer and the enaive may become shrewd, But 10reprove one who has understanding and he will fgain knowledge. 26 He 11who assaults his father and drives his mother away Is a shameful and disgraceful son. 27 Cease listening, my son, to discipline, And you will stray from the words of knowledge. 28 A rascally witness makes a mockery of justice, And the mouth of the wicked g12spreads iniquity. 29 hJudgments are prepared for 13scoffers, And 14blows for the back of fools.
